Are soulmates possible?

Having been reintroduced to the dating scene over the last 3 years, I've come across a lot of fellow singles who are searching for their "soulmate", that one person who is in perfect synch with them. My sarcastic side wants to scoff at this idea, but my romantic side wants desperately to believe that a woman exists out there that's my soulmate (but of course, she has to be tall...). Then again, I just flashed on the "Seinfeld" episode where Jerry thought he found the perfect woman for himself, but he finally realized that she was exactly like him, different only in gender. Is everyone else here looking for their soulmate? Would you settle for less?

The double standard in dating...

The first two responses to my "Discrimination?" post brings up that old double-standard for the "vertically gifted" who are in a relationship. That is, it's relatively acceptable for a tall man to be with a shorter woman, but some think it borders on freakish for a tall woman to be with a man who's shorter than her. I was reminded of it yesterday when I saw the news about the world's tallest man who just got married to a woman probably over 2' shorter than he is. That combination'll get some looks, but just think if the genders were reversed! I've got to admit that I do a double-take when I see a tall woman with a short man, but admittedly it's a selfish "Good Lord, woman, you should be with me!" reaction... Any opinions?

How many members of this site have used or are using a "normal" online dating service, and if so, do you specify that you're looking for someone tall? I posted on Craigslist recently in the "Strictly Platonic" dating section, and I mentioned that I was looking for someone taller. I received at least two replies from women who objected to my search for someone closer to my height. I don't completely exclude women under 5'-8" (I could be passing up someone who's perfect in every other way, other than giving me a backache...), but I certainly give preference to women at that height or taller. What have the rest of you experienced when you specifically look for a taller mate?

What kind of vehicle do you drive?

I was driving a company vehicle on a business trip yesterday, and I was struck by how badly proportioned the vehicle was. It wasn't an economy car BTW, it was actually a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I'm 6'-5", and my eyes were practically looking into the top of the windshield, with the head restraint pushing against the base of my neck. Legroom was adequate, but I could feel the hair on the top of my head (and yes, it's as short and sparse as my pic shows) brush against the headliner above. This SUV is one of the worst fits for my size that I've ever experienced. My personal car is a Subaru Outback, and I now feel very fortunate that I have that car; it fits me perfectly and I love to drive it. What does everyone else here drive, and are you happy with how that vehicle fits you?
