New to the site and so I'm just wondering what your definition of short is? I grew up thinking I was average height (5'8") and always dated shorter girls who thought that was tall. So now than I'm getting a little older I've noticed even a lot of teenagers nowadays are taller than me. Maybe there's some truth to people getting taller as they say? I don't know about that, but I do now your perspective depends on your heritage and in some cases where you live. For my dad's side of the family I'm somewhat tall for my mom's side I'm not so tall. So my question is this... Is 5'8" short? or average??? =P
Phil62, I hear ya. I'm 6'4" and married 5'2". Now that I'm single again I realize that I don't have to settle for less than I was accustomed to growing up. My whole family is tall, sisters, brother, parents, uncles... and it seems normal for a woman to be 5'10" or up.
Currently the average for US males is 5'9 and for the females is 5'4. So sad, i know ;)
I'm 5'9 so everyone shorter than me is short. I look at myself in the mirror and I feel totally normal. I put on heels, I feel sexy. With my heels on, i look down everywhere and I see midgets. lol!!
That was kinda mean. sowie :)
I am 5'10" and I used to feel tall but these days, I feel as if I am closer to average height. It seems as if a lot of guys are around my height and most women are shorter. Yet,there also seems to be a high number of guys these days over 6' so it is my guess that with each passing day, more and more taller people are being born and what used to be has lessened. I saw a guy the other day who claims to be 6'8" but I am betting he is taller. I thought it was neat but I guess really tall people don't like it.
Yeah pretty much and I used to think 5'8" was average but someone told me it's 5'10" now... I suppose if you're Caucasian. It's probably true where I live where I live in the Midwest states considering about 50% of the people have German heritage needless to say many are tall.
Personally I don't mind being short if that's the case as I have a thing for females with long legs haha! =) but who doesn't?
It depends on the country I suppose, as different countries run different gamuts when it comes to height! (I don't have the statistics to support that right now! Lol).
I, personally, would describe 5'8 in a gentleman, as being average. Maybe that is my perception though?
