I'm new at being single at Christmas time. It looks like I'm going to be spending a quiet time alone. Maybe I should find a good book and video. I'm wondering what everyone else is doing during the holidays...

After a divorce every holiday seems empty. These days are for family, not to be spent alone wondering what could have been done different. OK, for the upcoming 4th of July I'll be traveling to visit my mom via motorcycle, then swing down to spend some time with my sister in S.Cal.
It helps to have children you can visit for holidays, and they are always welcome in our lives. But they do have a life of their own and can't always be available.
Grandchildren are GREAT to spoil on holidays. I'm just finding that out now?

Frack Christmas! I know exactly what you're saying and this is something that we put upon ourselves and for what. Why do we need to be in such a relationship at that time of year? It adds to the stress of buying gifts and decorating and food and cards and the office Xmas party you're rather skip anyway, but only if you let it!
And what about all those blasted songs about "honey I'm so glad you're home at Christmas time". I don't think the original concept of Christmas included partnering-up-with-your-lover. What to do, what to do.
